Cairo University has successfully is considered as the mother university among other younger universities in Egypt, also offering its education and research facilities to Arab and foreign students and scientists. Cairo University is a comprehensive institution of higher learning with 100 scientific Research Centers and units of Private Character. Currently, it includes 23 Faculties and Institutes serving about 155,000 students with 3,158 faculty members, 2,361 assistant lecturers and demonstrators and 12,233 employees. Within the framework of Cairo University, the Faculty of Computers and Information (FCI) aims to gain a model to the university of the future through developing and updating its educational programs, making an effort to achieve the authorized criteria of the international Academy. FCI attempts to develop the system of study and reevaluating the curricula and applying the latest educational systems that provide more participation and choice for students to study the subjects according to their abilities and desires. In addition to teaching, FCI has a strong Research area, which encourages clearly articulated interdisciplinary research themes. A prime focus of the research is its generative value with respect to national and regional technological and socio-economic development, with strong links to the international research community but, at the same time, being deeply involved in the local community. In this regard, FCI actively support socio-economic development being proactive in establishing an ongoing dialogue with relevant parties to promote its activities and elicit their needs so as to configure effective solutions. |
